Congratulations to RHS 99 Megan who just earned her commercial rating!!!
Danielle was flying over Washoe Valley (and Rhonda’s house) and said hi! Maybe we should all do this???
When you’re on your way to an appointment, hear the sound of an airplane, and manage to get your phone out in time to take a decent picture…
Reno HighRoller on Final at KRNO 36L/R
A HUGE thank you to Rhonda, now our past chair, for hosting the Chapter BBQ at her beautiful new home in Washoe Valley. Chapter mascots Rembrandt (Rhonda) and Nico (Danielle) supervised our meeting and the investiture of our new officers. We enjoyed fantastic conversation over a delicious meal of pulled pork, chicken, a variety of salads, a veggie board, and Laura’s Pretzel Jell-O dessert and brownies!
Per our Scholarship Chair, Ms. Collins:
Work is always better with friends on board! Great start to a ZRH trip recently when pilot friend/RHS99s Heather came to check out our flight deck.
You Webmistress and her husband were flying to Quincy to meet friends for breakfast. Due to weight and balance issues, you webmistress volunteered to drive instead of fly. After shooting video of two planes landing and walking into town for a bite to eat, we all headed back to the airport. While watching the planes take off, I met a 99 (and her husband) from Alaska! Naturally we exchanged contact information and she graciously invited us to fly up and stay with them in Alaska!!
Moral of the story… talk to women at airports, you may meet a fellow 99!
(Sorry, forgot to take a picture!)
RHS RR Chelsea passed her instrument checkride on June 13!! Her DPE, Dr. Kochan is a fellow 99 in FL! Chelsea read about her 2 years ago, which was what inspired her to get her PPL! According to Chelsea, it was surreal to receive her instrument certificate from Dr. Kochan exactly one year + one day after my PPL checkride. 🥹 Thank you to Reno High Sierras for all your support. ❤️
Congrats to Andrea for earning her instrument rating last week!
99 years ago today, an incredible pioneer in aviation, Bessie Coleman died.
To learn more about her, check out this video: https://youtu.be/4tgR3znEpNE?si=HBHfhx_ScmuLNwFY
Per our Vice Chair Stacie:
I took 12 year old Pamela on her first discovery flight. It was like flying my 12 year self. She told it was the best day of her life! Let’s keep inspiring pilots, one flight at a time!
Congrats to RHS Chelsea on passing her instrument written with a perfect score!!
RHS 99s Heather, Stephanie, and Riley all saw one another!
RHS 99 Ashley was hanging out with Sun Coast 99 Kimberley! Did you know there are 7,883 99s world wide??
Hello Reno High Sierra 99’s Chapter,
My name is Hannah Fasiang, and I’m a United Airlines Pilot living in Carson City. I’m reaching out as a fellow aviation enthusiast who is passionate about giving back to our community.
I recently established the Fasiang Future of Flight Scholarship as a way to support aspiring pilots, particularly women who are eager to pursue a career in aviation. This initiative is very personal to me—it’s my way of helping to alleviate some of the financial challenges that come with flight training while encouraging more women to soar in this field.
I wanted to share this opportunity with you and ensure that any members who might benefit from it are aware of its availability. For more information on eligibility, awards, and deadlines, please visit the link attached below
Thank you for taking the time to read my message. I truly appreciate the camaraderie and support within our aviation community and look forward to connecting further. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or thoughts.
Warm regards,
Hannah Fasiang

What’s better than earing your PPL? Taking your first flight AFTER earning your PPL. How do you make that even better? You fly with your RHS 99s buddy.
Cheers to Tina! (and her first pax, Stacie!)
If you’re not familiar, Discord is a app that can be used on a variety of devices - computers, tablets, phones, that allows people to talk, text, share photos, and more. The Southwest Section now has a Discord Channel! If you’re interested in joining, message us and we’ll forward you the invite. Active members should have received an email with the invitation, so also check your junk folder. :)
This is a great way for us to communicate with other 99s!
Heather took me (Dani) for a fantastic flight over Lake Tahoe! We flew over Sand Harbor and got some great shots of the main beach, divers cove (where I’ve spent many hours scuba diving!!) and the boat launch. I love how clear the water is, and that you can see the contour of the land beneath the water!
Yesterday RHS 99 Tina passed her checkride, becoming a Private Pilot!! Way to go Tina!
Also, this is another beautiful example of our scholarships in action, as both Tina and her CFI Staci are RHS Scholarship recipients!
Tina (L) with CFI Staci (R)
Two of many Scholarship Success Stories:
2 years ago Stacie won the Andrea Rice Memorial Scholarship for her Instrument Rating.
4 days ago Julia won the Andrea Rice Memorial Scholarship for her PPL.
Today Stacie, now a CFI, soloed Julia.
Andrea would be so proud and pleased.
To all our scholarship applicants and recipients - past, present and future - you are each amazing and awesome. Keep flying!
RHS99 Riley has been flying in Nambia for the past year! We can’t wait to see her again when she returns to the US!
